The City of McCall operates a public boat launch at the Mile High Marina with minimal waits and adequate parking for trailers. There is also a deep draft boat launch at Ponderosa Park and another launch for small craft off Warren Wagon Road near the west side of the day use area at North Beach. A good web link for information on sailing and services on the lake is at http://www.sailidaho.com/payette-lake/payette-lake.shtml.
For day use, on the south shore of Payette Lake you are welcome to moor your boat at Whitetail Resort and enjoy a nice meal or refreshments there. Short term moorage (less than two weeks) is available by reservation at Mile High Marina 208.634.8605 www.milehighmarina.com.
At the northernmost point of Payette, pull up on the white sands of North Beach—you’ll find plenty of space to beach blanket bingo, swim the dogs or tube the kids from there.
The four city parks on Payette Lake are Brown Park, Legacy Park, and Art Robert’s Park in downtown McCall and Rotary Park located east of Whitetail. Dogs are not allowed in city parks but are welcome at Ponderosa Park and North Beach.
Enhancing boat launching capability is just one part of the comprehensive plan to revitalize downtown McCall’s Lake Front. Phase I of the Legacy Park Boardwalk project will connect Brown Park and Legacy Park with a pedestrian promenade. The project will also provide streetscape landscaping, amphitheater and improved car and boat trailer parking among many other things. Phase I improvements will commence in 2007.
